Suzuki was one of seven occupants in a southbound van that apparently ran off the right side of the road and overturned near Kapapala, according to police. Suzuki and a woman were transported in critical condition and four others in serious condition to hospitals following the 5:12 p.m. crash.

A 6-month-old boy from Japan died Thursday following a one-car crash Thursday evening in Pahala.

The boy has been identified as Yuta Suzuki, of Shiyonawate, Japan, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
